UpFlip interviews real small-business owners about how they actually did it. They sat down with me for the whole story: getting laid off, the first $200K, and how ionbottles got built.
This is my story, not a customer’s. It’s me talking about ionbottles. My results aren’t typical, and the course doesn’t promise them.
The course covers what an interview can’t: the exact order I’d follow if I started over, broken into evenings.
Who this is for
№ 01About ninety minutes a night after the kids are down. Every step fits in that window.
Not gig work that stops paying when you stop driving. A store you own, and a brand you could sell one day.
You need a phone, a few hundred dollars to test with, and the order of operations. That’s the part nobody gives you.
The one thing I can’t sell you
“You have to get a little obsessed. When ionbottles was running I checked the store every hour, looking for the one thing making people leave without buying.”
The course gives you the steps. You bring the obsession: looking at your store like your pickiest customer, every day. Obsessed in your build time, present at the dinner table. If that sounds like you, you’ll fit right in.
The founder
№ 02In 2020 I lost my business-development job at a consulting firm. Mortgage, wife, two kids, and a shoulder in a sling from surgery. I had a laptop and a lot of evenings.
I taught myself e-commerce from YouTube. My first store sold inflatable pools: $200,000 in two months, in a pandemic summer, from my kitchen table. Then, while scrolling Flippa, I spotted an idea and built it into my own brand: ionbottles.com. Four years later: $8.8 million in sales, over $2 million in profit, no investors, no agency. Then I sold it. That was my fourth exit, and the biggest one yet.
The thing nobody tells you is that the hard part isn’t the work. It’s knowing what to do Tuesday night. Most new store owners burn months on logos and theme colors before they learn the order things need to happen in. That order is this course.
And I don’t take the credit. Jesus is at the center of my life; I follow His teachings, and I believe that’s why my family has been blessed the way we have.

Guidance at every stage
EcomDads is one of three K&B Company brands Bobby runs. Each one covers the next stage, so you never have to go find a stranger for the hard parts.

Ten evening-sized steps to your first product test, with Bobby on a call when you’re stuck.

Once you have traffic, stop guessing. BurnTest puts a real shopper on your site on video, so you hear exactly why they didn’t buy, then fix it.

Questions people ask
№ 05No hype, no fine print. These are the questions I get from moms and dads before they spend ten dollars, answered the way I'd answer a buddy.
Plan on about $300 per product test: the product shipped to your own door, plus five days of ads at about $30 a day. Add a domain and the Shopify plan. You don’t buy inventory until a product proves it sells, and you should only use money your family can afford to lose.
Then the system did its job: it caught a miss for a few hundred dollars instead of a few thousand. Most products anyone tests don’t sell, and experienced sellers expect several misses before a winner. The course gives you written rules for when to fix and when to move on, and a ranked list so your next test is live within a week.
Three or four evenings a week, under an hour each. At three or four evenings a week, your first product test goes live in about five weeks (two evenings a week works too, it just takes longer). Every test after that is about five evenings, because the store and your skills carry over.
No. EcomDads is for moms and dads, and anyone else building a store around a day job. It’s called EcomDads because I’m a dad who got started in e-commerce, did well, and wants to share the order that worked. The ten steps are the same for everyone.
Yes. The steps assume zero experience. If you can set up a Gmail account and follow a checklist, you can do this.
For testing, yes, from US warehouses, so customers get it in days and you never buy stock for a product that hasn’t sold. When one proves itself, you move it to a factory order with your logo on it. That’s where the margin and the brand are.
Yes. $10 once gets you all ten steps for life, with nothing else to buy to finish them. The two monthly plans are optional and add me: Insider ($95/month) is two live group calls a month, and Coached ($495/month) is me building your store and running your ads. Both are month to month.
Same ten steps in all three. The course ($10 once) is you on your own schedule, with my notes and my email. Insider ($95/month) adds two 30-minute live group calls a month where I review members’ stores and ads. Coached ($495/month) is done for you: you bring the product, the business name and a domain, and I build your branded Shopify store, make your first ads and run them every month you’re a member, with a 30-minute call every week. Cancel anytime; I stop managing and the store is yours. Ad spend is paid by you to Meta. I work to get you sales, but it’s not a promise of results.
Email within 30 days and you get your money back, no questions asked.
